What is cultural appropriation and how do we raise sensitivity around this issue at Yanapuma Shop?

The dictionary defines Cultural Appropriation as “The act of TAKING or using things from a culture that are not your own, especially without showing that you understand or respect the culture. While cultural appropriation is an issue that indigenous peoples often face, whether it be inappropriate use of traditional or ceremonial regalia, music or any other symbology, we at Yanapuma Shop are sensitive to our indigenous family of artisanal partners and therefore do not sell ANY items without consent. Nor do we sell any items intended or allocated specifically for sacred ceremonial use exclusively by the tribes and their elders.

We work hard to celebrate all walks of life and the unique expressions and artforms of indigenous peoples. With respect and reverence we offer what they have created to share in ways that we can all be proud of. Because of this, we thoughtfully curate our products as a form of education, inspiration and culture sharing. We celebrate indigenous resiliency & continuity through the trade of traditional designs and made-by-hand wares. We are happy to bridge carefully curated messages through our selected collections, as long as they are carried respectfully.

By purchasing from Yanapuma Shop your helping us authentically pass on indigenous culture and raise awareness to indigenous issues. Most importantly, you are supporting the sustainability of these artforms and empowered livelihoods of our artists everywhere.

I have a question about sizing, how can I figure out which size to buy?

Because of the special nature of many of our garments and the various locations of origin, our sizing is not exact, but we are happy to help you if you write to us with your measurement details on our CONNECT page or in the NOTES section of our CHECK OUT page when you place your order ... We review every order carefully and we will contact you -if needed- to find the perfect fit!

Will you be restocking sold out items or sizes?

If we are sold out of a size or product item, we will not be restocking until further notice. Yanapuma Shop carries hand made products which are mostly one-of-a-kind items crafted by our incredible family of artisans. It is, however, often possible to make you something similar, although never exactly the same. We work with local and international artisans to create all our collections. They are therefore, limited as we choose unique stories through our work and focus our efforts on creating new pieces so that you can have ever changing experiences. Each piece is thoughtfully & uniquely crafted and most made exclusively for sales to our Yanapuma Shop family.

How long does it take to receive my online purchase from Yanapuma Shop Online?

Yanapuma Shop is a very intimate operation and our small team does it's best to provide the highest level of integrity and efficiency to our service. We fulfill and prepare successfully paid product orders once a week, typically on Tuesdays or Fridays and do our best to get them to the Postal Office as soon as they are packed. That said, we estimate that you should receive your DOMESTIC package in under two weeks. Customers shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories should plan to experience slightly longer shipping times.

Do you ship outside of the United States?

YES. We are proud to work with artisans all around the world and are grateful for our international supporters.

International orders ship via a variety of United States Postal options (such as USPS Priority Mail or USPS First-Class Mail International, etc...) depending on value and weight. The average transit time for international delivery is approximately two to five weeks. However, shipping times can vary greatly depending on your location, the time of the year, and your local postal service. In some cases, it can take longer for your order to be delivered, depending on Customs.

Shipping Interruptions.

Currently 2022 we are experiencing slower shipping times internationally and there are certain countries which are NOT allowing shipments at all. PLEASE check your countries shipping policy before making an order or contact us and we will help you with that information. These restrictions are changing rapidly and we are doing our best to support our clients with up to date information.

Please note, international orders do not qualify for any forms of expedited shipping.

Tracking information is available in most locations. However, we cannot promise an exact delivery date, as there are no guarantees made by the postal service due to possible delays in Customs and most forms of shipping stop "tracking" as soon as it leaves US borders.

Depending on your region, additional customs charges, fees, or taxes may be due upon delivery. Clients are responsible for these fees and that they are not included at checkout at this time.

Which currency do you charge for products on your site?
