Shirley Chisholm - Shirley Chisholm (1924–2005) was a trailblazing leader whose boldness and integrity broke barriers in American politics. In 1968, she became the first Black American woman elected to the U.S. Congress, representing Brooklyn’s Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood with fierce independence and unwavering dedication to justice. As the first Black American to seek a major party’s nomination, she ran for the US presidency in 1972, a bold declaration that politics must serve all people, not just the powerful. Throughout her career, Chisholm championed the rights of women, minorities, and the poor, challenging entrenched systems of power and expectation. Her legacy endures as a testament to courage, authenticity, and the transformative power of political leadership.

It has a sewn stitched binding, opens flat, and measures approximately 4"x6.375", with 56 blank, recycled pages inside. Each has 2 rounded corners and is packaged in a clear plastic sleeve.

Audre Lorde - “Revolution is not a one time event.” Audre Lorde (1934–1992) was a poet, writer, philosopher, and intersectional feminist whose words continue to challenge and inspire movements for justice. Through her poetry and essays, she confronted racism, sexism, homophobia, and all forms of oppression with honesty and clarity. As a professor and activist, Lorde believed deeply that “there is no hierarchy of oppression.” Her influential works, including From a Land Where Other People Live (1974), The Black Unicorn (1978), and Sister Outsider: Essays and Speeches (1984), broke silences and continue to redefine the politics of identity, power, and resistance.
