MEGAN SCHOENBACHLER PHOTOGRAPHY

For as long as I can remember, I have had a camera in one hand and a plane ticket in the other. I remember the first time I realized I could capture a moment in time, and it would stay that way forever, never to be lost... I knew then that photography is what I was meant to do.

As I explored working with the camera more I found that I was called to capturing people authentically living their lives. Sometimes this means sitting quietly with them, and other times it's about capturing a fleeting instant as my camera and their worlds collide in a moment that may have gone unnoticed by my subject, but now lives forever.

Having grown up in the Willamette Valley of Oregon State, my love of trees and the natural world instinctually led me to shoot cultures who thrive and maintain a deep connection to nature as well... My work has focused on how cultures constantly evolve, particularly, how some communities can appear lost in time and yet through their ways, are timeless.

The selection of images chosen for the Yanapuma Collection will evolve and change... just as the world around us. But with each image, my hope is to illustrate how I feel when I look through my lens. There is no truth deeper than the connection I have with my subjects and how much I learn in the time I spend photographing them.
