Native Tucuna Artisanal Woven Bags

Yanapuma brings you the beauty of Colombian art to the world through the finest 100% hand made authentic bags made by the indigenous women and men of the Tucuna people.  Each Bag is a unique work of art on its own, telling a story in its design and takes an enormous amount of time to knit each piece.  These bags represent a tradition of artisans and are recognized the world over as a product of distinction.

The indigenous Tucuna people (also spelled Ticuna or Tikuna) live in Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, around the Amazon-Solimões and Putomayo-Içá rivers. Although the Tucuna are the most numerous tribe in the Amazon, it was not until the 1990's that Brazil formally recognized the Ticunas' right to their lands.

Your purchase supports the continued handicraft creation of these indigenous communities and preserve their cultural values. Yanapuma practices Fair Trade with its community collaborations in respect for their value, traditions and cultural beliefs.
